Karan Kapoor Px3 Prix de la Photographie portraiture prizes This year's "Prix de la Photographie Paris" (Prix de la Photographie) prize winners have been announced, and I'm delighted to tell you that my images have been awarded silver in the Portraiture category and two further honourable mentions. Once again, it's my "Portrait of girl with red hair" which caught the eyes of the awarding judges to get 2nd place in the Portraiture category. This vibrant, energetic image has now won the PDN photo annual award and American Photography 29 award, with the Px3 2013 prize the latest in the string of awards it has attracted. My photographs "Diaper Kid" and "Bubbles" both received an honourable mention. The Px3 - full name the "Prix de la Photographie Paris" - is a true photography-lover's award. It promotes the appreciation of photography and aims to both discover emerging talent and recognise more established photographers. It also does a great job of bringing the international photography scene together, introducing photographers from around the world to Paris's artistic community by exhibiting the winning photographs at a high-profile Parisian gallery, the Espace Dupon. The winning images are also published in the Px3 annual book. The winners of the 2013 Px3 were selected from thousands of entries, which came in from 85 countries. The Px3 prize is juried by a group of highly-respected names from across the international photography industry: Carol Johnson, Curator of Photography of Library of Congress, Washington D.C.; Gilles Raynaldy, Director of Purpose, Paris; Viviene Esders, Expert près la Cour d'Appel de Paris; Mark Heflin, Director of American Illustration + American Photography, New York; Sara Rumens, Lifestyle Photo Editor of Grazia Magazine, London; Françoise Paviot, Director of Galerie Françoise Paviot, Paris; Chrisitine Ollier, Art Director of Filles du Calvaire, Paris; Natalie Johnson, Features Editor of Digital Photographer Magazine, London; Natalie Belayche, Director of Visual Delight, Paris; Kenan Aktulun, VP/Creative Director of Digitas, New York; Chiara Mariani, Photo Editor of Corriere della Sera Magazine, Italy; Arnaud Adida, Director of Acte 2 Gallery/Agency, Paris; Jeannette Mariani, Director of 13 Sévigné Gallery, Paris; Bernard Utudjian, Director of Galerie Polaris, Paris; Agnès Voltz, Director of Chambre Avec Vues, Paris; and Alice Gabriner, World Picture Editor of Time Magazine, New York. I'm honoured and delighted to receive this 2nd place prize and would like to thank the Px3 panel for the award.
